Biografia

Bogart nasceu em 1899 e iniciou sua carreira no Brooklyn, no início da década de 20, aparecendo em diversas peças. Foi atuando na peça “Invitation to a murder” que foi visto pelo produtor Arthur Hopkings que buscava um ator para A floresta petrificada. O ator trabalharia ao lado da jovem Bette Davis. Com o seujeito durão tornou-se muito influente e popular, transformando-se em um dos maiores mitos de Hollywood.

Humphrey Bogart (1889 – 1957)

Na verdade, a maneira de falar arrastada e o rosto de pedra foram resultado de um acidente que sofreu durante sua participação na Primeira Guerra Mundial, em que seu lábio superior foi dilacerado. Tornou-se um astro com o clássico Relíquia macabra (1941), de John Huston. Mas seu maior sucesso foi o bem-sucedido Casablanca (1942). Impossível imaginar outro no papel principal de Rick.

Lauren Bacall e Humphrey Bogart

Em Aventura na Martinica, (1942) conheceu Lauren Bacall, sua terceira esposa. Fez ainda À beira do abismo (46), Paixões em fúria (48), Uma aventura na África (51) e Sabrina (1954), onde contracena com Audrey Hepburn. O ator faleceu três anos depois, em sua casa, após uma longa batalha contra o câncer.
