Biografia
Um dos maiores símbolos de todo o cinema americano. Representava o ideal de milhares de mulheres. Arrancou aplausos e suspiros no filme Adorável Vagabundo, de 1941. Gary Cooper nasceu em Montana, em 1901, filho de ingleses, tendo estudado agronomia e trabalhado na fazenda antes de estrear como figurante em diversos filmes mudos. Num desse filmes conheceu Clara Bow, de quem virou amante. Além dela, namorou ainda com outras atrizes, como Lupe Velez, Marlene Dietrich e Evely Brient. Brilhou em filmes como “Os virginianos”, de 1929 (sua estréia no cinema falado) e “Marrocos” (1930), onde atuou com a Marlene Dietrich. Na década de 30 ele já era uma das maiores estrelas do cinema americano. Em 1950 casou-se com Verônica Balfe. Juntos tiveram uma filha, Maria. Apesar disso tudo, correram rumores de que seu casamento seria para esconder seu homossexualismo.
Sua interpretação em Matar ou morrer, de 1952, ao lado de Grace Kelly ficou famosa. Fez no total 95 filmes, sendo o último The naked edge, de 1961, ao lado de Deborah Kerr. Morreu de câncer, em 1960, pouco tempo depois de ganhar um Oscar especial da Academia. Tinha 60 anos.
