Biografia
George Peppard Jr nasceu em Detroit, Michigan em 01 de outubro de 1928. Antes da fama foi fuzileiro naval e sargento, chegando a estudar engenharia civil. Mas, interessado por teatro, chegou ao famoso Actor’s Studios.
Sua estréia no cinema foi em 1957, no filme “The Strange One” de Jack Garfein. Dentre seus papéis marcantes, citamos o escritor Paul “Fred” Varjak em Bonequinha de Luxo (Breakfast as Tiffany’s), O Coronel John “Hannibal” Smith da série Esquadrão Classe A (The A-Team) e Jonas Cord Jr. em Os Insaciáveis (The carpetbaggers). Ele faria o papel de Blake Carrington na série Dinastia, da década de 80, mas por problemas com o diretor foi substituído por John Forsythe.
Em 1982 fez o teste para o papel do coronel John Hannibal Smith na série televisiva The A-Team. A série ficou no ar por cinco temporadas, entre 1983 a 1987.
Peppard superou seu problema com o alcool em 1978 e posteriormente se envolveu com associações de combate ao vício. Contudo, jamais conseguiu largar o fumo, e chegava a fumar dois maços de cigarros por dia. Acabou morrendo em 1992, em decorrência de um câncer de pulmão.
