Biografia
Roger Moore nasceu em 1927 em Londres, e tornou-se mundialmente famoso ao interpretar o lendário agente secreto James Bonde (por sete vezes) Ele assumiu o papel no lugar de Sean Connery.
Desde 1991, atua como embaixador do UNICEF, e por suas ações humanitárias foi condecorado, em 1999, Cavaleiro do Império Britânico pela Rainha Elizabeth II, recebendo o título de Sir.
Moore havia sido cogitado pelos produtores da série de 007 para encarnar o papel do agente secreto antes de Connery. Contudo, por questões contratuais com uma série de tv, não pôde assumir o papel, adiando sua entrada na série alguns anos. Posteriormente, mesmo sendo mais velho do que Connery, após a saída de cena do actor escocês do universo oficial de Bond – embora este viesse, mais tarde, a regressar em 007 Nunca Diga Nunca Outra Vez/Nunca Mais Outra Vez -, foi o escolhido para o substituir.
Roger Moore trouxe à série um tom mais leve e humorístico, embora, por isso mesmo, algumas das suas interpretações ficassem mais marcadas pelos exageros dos anos 70, como em 007 contra o Foguete da Morte ou 007 contra O Homem da Pistola De Ouro . No final da sua participação na série Bond, regressou a horizontes mais sóbrios e ponderados como em 007 contra Octopussy.
De fato, em termos gerais, o humor sarcástico, a ironia e a sempre elegante pose marcaram a sua versão de Bond, que foi um grande sucesso de bilheteria. Moore abandonou o papel aos 57 anos, em 1985, com o filme 007 Na Mira Dos Assassinos.
Além de 007, Moore ficou famoso também com o papel de Simon Templar na série de tv britânica O Santo, entre 1962 e 1969, e como Brett Sinclair, em The Persuaders, fazendo dupla com Tony Curtis, série da tv norte-americana exibida mundialmente no início dos anos 70, além de vários outros papéis no cinema.
Sir Roger Moore se dedicou em seus últimos anosis à sua carreira de embaixador do UNICEF, usando a enorme fama adquirida durante todos os seus anos de carreira para ajudar de alguma forma aqueles que necessitam. Esta faceta surgiu na sua vida depois do contato que teve, em 1983, durante as filmagens de 007 contra Octopussy, com a extrema pobreza da população indiana. Roger Moore faleceu em 23 de maio de 2017.
