Biografia
Eleanor Jean Parker nasceu em 26 de junho de 1922. A americana iniciou a carreira trabalhando em um teatro. Aos 19 anos conseguiu um contrato na Warner Bros, após fazer inúmeros testes. Chegou a fazer algumas participações, das quais em seu O Intrépido General Custer (1941), mas acabaram cortando sua parte.
Após trabalhar em tantos filmes finalmente conseguiu um papel de destaque em Of Human Bondage (1946). Infelizmente mais uma vez ela não teve sorte e teve que esperar um pouco mais. Finalmente foi reconhecida após interpretar uma presidiária em À margem da vida (Caged, 1950). Com seu papel foi indicada ao Oscar de melhor atriz. Satisfeitos com os seus esforços, o estúdio passou a acreditar mais nela, e a colocou em outros filmes: Ela brilhou em Chaga de Fogo (1951), um filme maravilhoso que protagonizou ao lado de Kirk Douglas, também chegando a ser indicada ao Oscar.
Em 1955 ela também cheou a ser indicada por Melodia Interrompida. E quando parecia que sua carreira tinha enfim decolado, ela conseguia poucos papéis. Hoje em dia é mais conhecida por sua participação em A Noviça Rebelde, onde interpreta a baronesa Elsa Schraeder.
A atriz foi casada quatro vezes e teve quatro filhos. Ela faleceu em 9 de dezembro de 2013 quando tinha 91 anos.
