Biografia

Nascido em 13 de agosto de 1899 em Londres, Alfred Hitchcock seria mais conhecido como o Mestre do Suspense. Hitch também era conhecido pelo modo como tratava seus atores. Para ele, atores eram como gado, e não mereciam nenhum respeito.

Filho de verdureiros, recebeu educação católica e começou a trabalhar com publicidade, após a morte de seu pai. Em 1920 conseguiu um emprego na Famous Playres Lasky, da Paramount Pictures, onde fazia os diálogos dos filmes mudos. Observava tudo e começou a fazer roteiros.

Em 1925 veio seu primeiro sucesso: The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog, onde iniciaria também uma de suas marcas: a aparição em determinado momento do filme. Casou-se com Alma Reville, com quem teria uma única filha: Patrícia.

Mudando-se para os Estados Unidos em 1939, lá realizou seus maiores sucessos: Rebecca, Correspondente de Guerra, Mr. e Mrs. Smith, Interlúdio, Sabotador, Festin Diabólico, Vertigo, Psicose, Os Pássaros, dentre outros.

Dentre suas características como diretor estão, o suspense (onde usava música forte e a surpresa), o voyerismo por parte do espectador, suas aparições nos filmes, preferência pelas louras, de preferência frias.
O diretor morreu em 1980, de insuficiência renal, em sua casa em Los Angeles.
