Biografia
Angela Brigit MacGill Lansbury nasceu em Londres em 16 de outubro de 1925. Filha da atriz Moyna Macgill e de um político, mudou-se com a família para os Estados Unidos na década de 40. Lá começou seus estudos na Escola de Arte Dramática de Nova York. Aos 19 anos de idade estreou no cinema com pequenas participações. Foi indicada ao Oscar de Melhor atriz coadjuvante por Gaslight (1944), onde atuou ao lado de Ingrid Bergman.
Outros filme de destaque foram “O retrato de Dorian Gray” (1945), onde ela atuou ao lado de sua mãe. Seguiram-se The Harvey Girls, Sansão e Dalila, Os três mosqueteiros.
Angela se casou aos 19 anos com Richard Cromwell, porém a união acabou após Richard assumir que era homossexual. Os dois permaneceram amigos por toda a vida. Em 1949 a atriz casou-se mais uma vez, com Peter Shaw. O casal teve dois filhos, Anthoy e Deirde. Shaw faleceu em 2003 e a atriz vive sozinha desde então. Angela é uma atriz premiadíssima. Indicada três vezes ao Oscar, é uma das recordistas em nomeações aos Emmys (12 vezes no total). A atriz também recebeu o título da Ordem do império britânico da Rainha Isabel II do Reino unido.
